Debbie Cates
Family and couple psychotherapist, St Neots.
Accredited Video Interaction Guidance (VIG) practitioner.
Psychotherapy is the use of psychological methods, particularly when based on regular personal interaction, to help a person change behavior, increase happiness, and overcome problems.
VIG is a therapeutic intervention that makes a real difference for children and their families, using a strength-based intervention to strengthen relationships between carer and child.
I am an accredited VIG practitioner and accept referrals for VIG from the Local Authority and other public services as well as privately. If you are not sure if VIG is the right approach for you, please contact me for an initial discussion.
I offer face to face therapy for families, couples and individuals, in the St Neots area. My practice is based at St Neots Chiropractic Clinic, where a range of therapies are provided. I work in a private and comfortable room. The clinic is situated in St Neots Market Square which is easily accessible for public transport.
My Qualifications: I have an MA in Systemic (Family) Psychotherapy from the Tavistock and Portman Trust in Central London. I have also completed the Diploma in Counselling, Counselling Skills with Children and Motivational Therapeutic Interventions. I have many years’ experience of working in Health and Social Care and the Public and Voluntary Sector. I hold an enhanced DBS certificate.
I am UK Council of Psychotherapy (UKCP) registered (2011183402). The UKCP is a national association of psychotherapy organisations and individual psychotherapists. Being a member entails meeting exacting standards and training requirements. These conditions were introduced to protect the public and ensure a high quality of available therapies.
